Thursday, November 23, 2023 3:27:00 PM As US counterparts gather around the Thanksgiving table, the SHIELD Adult Hockey Season also reaches its near midway point, providing plenty of excitement and action on the ice. With seven games under their belts, the league's six teams have battled fiercely, and it's time to take a closer look at the standings, player stats, and the storylines that have emerged during this thrilling season. Muckhorses Charging Ahead: The Muckhorses have been nothing short of dominant in the first half of the season. They've played seven games and won all of them, establishing themselves as the team to beat. With 39 goals scored and 18 goals against, they've not only displayed a potent offense but also a strong defense. Their 14 points and impressive goal difference of +21 put them in the top spot with a perfect winning percentage of 1.000. Hawks and Gators Soaring: The Hawks and Gators are in hot pursuit of the Muckhorses. Both teams have posted identical records, winning five of their seven games. The Hawks have been on fire offensively, notching 40 goals, but their defense has allowed 36 goals, resulting in a goal difference of +4. The Gators, on the other hand, have been solid on both ends of the ice, with 38 goals scored and 27 goals against, giving them a goal difference of +11. Both teams are tied in second place with 10 points and a winning percentage of 0.714. Bandits, A1 Performers, and Family Jewels Looking to Rebound: The Bandits, A1 Performers, and Family Jewels have had a tougher first half of the season. The Bandits have managed to win three out of their seven games, securing 7 points and a winning percentage of 0.429. Daryl Knowles has been a standout player for them with 14 goals and 5 assists, leading the league in points. The A1 Performers have struggled with only one win in seven games, earning them 4 points and a winning percentage of 0.143. Zak Ray has been a bright spot for them with 8 goals and 2 assists. The Family Jewels are still in search of their first victory this season, holding 1 point and a winless record. Phil Brennan has been their top scorer with 6 goals and 2 assists. Player Standouts: Individual performances have been a key factor in shaping the standings. Daryl Knowles of the Bandits leads the league in points with 19, closely followed by Kerry Barchan of the Hawks and Adam Bouchard of the Gators, both with 18 points. Dylan Cooper of the Muckhorses and Patrick Marsh of the Muckhorses have also been impressive contributors with 13 points each. What's to Come: As we look ahead to the second half of the SHIELD Adult Hockey Season, one thing is certain: the competition will only intensify. Can the Muckhorses maintain their perfect record, or will the Hawks and Gators close the gap? Will the Bandits, A1 Performers, or Family Jewels make a resurgence in the standings? With plenty of games left to play, it's anyone's guess how the season will unfold. One thing's for sure, though—hockey fans have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, as they can expect more thrilling action on the ice in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates as the season continues to unfold.
